Settled Lawsuit Info

Ms. Rule filed a lawsuit against the city (us) wanting payment for emotional distress and legal costs. The case settled. Ms. Rule will receive hundreds of thousands of dollars from the city (us).

Two indisputable facts of the settlement

1. Councilmember Rule agreed to a judicial declaration that she broke the law by disclosing closed session confidential advice from the City’s attorney.
2. She also agreed to an imposition of an injunction by the court (i.e. judicial supervision to prevent her from breaking the law in the future).
